Adjudication remains the fastest route to cash on a construction project. It is not always the right one.

Twenty-eight days to a decision is still the most attractive feature of construction adjudication. But a fast decision on a complex final account can be a false economy if it simply sets up a second, more expensive fight.

Before referring a dispute, we ask three questions: is the issue narrow enough for an adjudicator to decide well, is cash flow the real priority, and what happens to the relationship afterwards? The answers usually point clearly in one direction.
